Dr. Martin Lasky’s greatest joy was being able to practice dentistry side by side with his son Michael and his daughter-in-law Jill, also pediatric dentists. But the time early in 2013, for Dr. Martin to spend more time with his wife of more than forty years, Sheila. While a loss for so many of his patients, who are the sons and daughters of several generations of pediatric dental patients he’s treated over the years, Dr. Martin now spends his days traveling the world with his wife and spending more time with his grandchildren.
His son, Dr. Michael Lasky and his partner in life and business, Dr. Jill Lasky continue the legacy of Dr. Martin with their pediatric practices in Tarzana and Studio City.
It was his love of children, that inspired him to become a pediatric dentist and to make the dental experience a positive one for his young patients. Dr. Martin has said, “I treat every child as if he or she is one of my own grandchildren and I truly am blessed because being a pediatric dentist is more than a job, it is an unbelievable experience.”
Dr. Martin was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. After high school, he attended UCLA and then received his dental training at UCSF School of Dentistry. Soon after graduation, he volunteered for the United States Air Force and was stationed in Okinowa, and treated military-dependent children which sparked his desire to specialize as a pediatric dentist. Upon returning to the States, he opened his pediatric dental practice in Studio City. In 1987, he moved to his present office in Tarzana.
For over forty years, Dr. Martin Lasky has been a part of a mentoring program for pediatric residents at USC School of Dentistry. He was also a part-time clinical instructor in Pediatric Dentistry at U.S.C. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, California Society of Pediatric Dentists, American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and San Fernando Valley Dental Society.
