The Lasky Pediatric Dental Group is proud to be one of the many excellent resources listed in L.A. Parent Magazine’s “Your Child with Special Needs 2014 Resource Guide.” Dr. Michael Lasky, Dr. Jill Lasky, Dr. Lecia Harmer and the staff of LPDG are highly-trained and equally skilled in dealing with children with special needs. While many pediatric dentists prefer to sedate these young patients, LPDG prefers to use behavior modification techniques over one to several visits and avoid using sedation for routine checkups and cleanings. They have had great success over the years and parents are amazed and grateful that they don’t have to use drugs on their child.
The doctors and staff of the Lasky Pediatric Dental Group are also long time supporters of The Help Group, one of this country’s largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind serving children (and their families) with special needs.
Another reason to check out the guide is the feature story about autism activists, Holly Robinson Peete, her husband, Rodney Peete, and their son, RJ. The pair founded the HollyRod Foundation, originally dedicated to the fight against Parkinson’s disease (Robinson Peete’s father suffered with the disease), but then expanded to include the fight for autism awareness after RJ was diagnosed with the syndrome at the age of three.
The timing for the L.A. Parent resource guide’s release was to coincide with April 2014’s National Autism Awareness Month and the opportunity to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community. You can pick up a copy of the guide at one of the Lasky Pediatric Dental offices or read the online version click here.
